Ashraf took me to visit the old El Qurna several times after arriving. The houses have mostly been demolished and there is not much left. He said he went there regularly and he just looks and weeps tears of grief. I felt the overwhelming feeling of grief and sadness myself and then the realisation of why it was such a big thing for the families to move on. I had the feeling that these people had been living here at the Valley of the Kings for thousands of years. The same souls coming back lifetime after lifetime. But, now they have been moved on and can never again come back to live here again......ever.

I told this to Ashraf and he nodded in recognition of this. We talked about it being time for these Souls to accept change and so it had been forced upon them. They have made the transition and are happy in their new homes. We didn't revisit his old home again. Something appeared to have shifted. Maybe an acceptance that all was as it should be.
